If you're trying to grow your interior design business, you may be spending a lot of time trying to fix the things you can see.
You need more clients, so you increase your marketing. You're overwhelmed, so you hire. Profit feels tight, so you raise your prices.
But what if the thing making the most noise isn't actually the thing that's broken?
That's the idea behind The Design Business Diagnostic.
After years of running my own design firm and coaching other interior designers, I've found five areas that I repeatedly need to understand before I can diagnose what's preventing an established design business from becoming more profitable, sustainable, and scalable: Financial Foundation, Predictable Marketing, Human Capital, CEO Leadership, and Products & Offerings.
The important part is that these areas don't operate independently.
A weak offer can create a marketing problem. Inconsistent marketing can create unpredictable revenue. Unpredictable revenue affects hiring. Poor team structure creates more work for the owner. And an owner trapped in delivery has less capacity to lead the business strategically.
That's why another isolated tactic isn't necessarily the answer.
In Episode 127 of Success by Design, I'm introducing all five areas and explaining why I'm changing the way I coach established interior designers. Then, over the next five episodes, we'll diagnose each area individually—what designers commonly get wrong, how to recognize the symptoms, what happens when it's ignored, and what healthy actually looks like.
Because before you prescribe the fix, you need to understand the problem.
